Two weekends ago, I was at Garden State Comic Fest. I was there for Blue Juice Comics, but for the first time at a con, Thorny Comics’ Books were at the table!
This was my setup:
Got to spend the weekend with The Grizzly Crew artist Nick Justus, met Darryl Banks and Keith Williams, talked art and crowdfunding with JP Buzio, and hung with Len Danovich.
I’d love say I sold a ton of books…
What I can say is this was an awesome first time out for me as a creator. 2 people walked by and recognized Cicada Samurai, and one looked me right in the eye and said “wait - are you Jerry Carita?” That was pretty awesome.
Also moved a few copies of this little gem:
We’re getting ready launch issue two next week. Follow along HERE if you’re not already.

I HATE YOU, PLEASE DIE!
Written by Garrett Gunn and drawn by Malia Ewart, I love this book. It’s dark as hell, not afraid to depress you, but also really funny. After a deal with the devil, a high school loser gains the ability to kill people with one simple phrase. It’s a great story so far with many of the things I love about indie comics. Just a few days to order this volume. Click the image:
Next up for Thorny
We’re almost done fulfilling the CloakRoom #1, waiting for books from the printer so I can fulfill Reign of Dracula, and then I’m narrowing my focus to just 3 projects - more CloakRoom, finishing The Grizzly Crew, and continuing Cicada Samurai.
Happy Fourth of July to those who celebrate! Hope Canada Day was nice for my not-insignificant Canadian readership!
Was great geeking out with you at garden state
You've come a long way in such a relatively short time--very impressive body of work, Jerry!
